Question:
J am interested in an aspect of the psychology of trying to kick highly
addictive drugs.
I have heard that you can find yourself going out and getting and using
drugs almost against your will, as if you are watching someone else do it.
Is this a common experience?
Answer:
...once addiction becomes a Beast in you. The "middle brain" or reptilian
part of your
brain (the part of the brain we share with reptiles) develops a voice. This
voice likes to
speak as if it's you speaking. It really is but an appetite for the sensations
your DOC gives
your brain, similar to an appetite for food, sex, etc... Now, this reptilian
brain does not say...
"hey you! feed me drugs! like right now!"
Instead, it will take on the pronoun "I". "Hey, I need to feast on drugs,
like, right now!"
If you believe that appetite voice is your voice, you can give your will over
to it.
You become its slave, and can observe it take over your actions.
