Question:
I am interested in mobile and telephone crisis intervention with a psychiatric
nexus. I didn't find a lot research papers on tihis topic, can anyone give me
hints, where I can find the right resources?
I think, research should be done especially in mobile services, medical
research has overstressed "in-door epidemiology" and diagnosis.
Hints from every side (medical, psychological, support-groups) are very
wellcome.
Also, I am interested in a more specialized news-group, is there any?

Answer:
Several years ago, a mental institution in my home city of Toronto, Canada
wanted to set up such a mobile unit - one which would have the power to
pick people up off the street, sign committal papers on them and
incarcerate them on an initial 72-hour hold (subject to possible
extension). I'm not referring to persons suspected of illegal activities,
but those whose behavior violates the psychiatric value judgements of which
is considered 'normalcy.'
How can such an approach possibly benefit someone's 'mental health'? We're
talking about what amounts to a violent kidnapping
