Question:
Took a d.o.t drug test today, I took a 5 mg diazapam 24 hours before the
test, will it show up, will the test even look for diazapam?
Answer:
As a laboratory, you must test for the following five drugs or classes of
drugs in a DOT drug test. You must not test
"DOT specimens" for any other drugs.
(a) Marijuana metabolites.
(b) Cocaine metabolites.
(c) Amphetamines.
(d) Opiate metabolites.
(e) Phencyclidine (PCP).
If, however, you took a pre-employment test for a private company that is
also going to use the test for the company's own purposes, benzos might have
been tested for. If benzos were tested for, 5mg of diazepam would likely
show up as positive.
But you really shouldn't drive while (or even the day after) doing Valium.
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I learned the hard way.
