why are they themselves not required to submit to these tests?.

Question:
Politicians were quick to legislate and enact laws regarding compulsory drug & alcohol testing for people working in many diverse industries so why are they themselves not required to submit to these tests?. Obviously they play a crucial role in governing their state or country and are making monumental decisions every day that effect millions of people. To not be a part of this screening process is both hypocritical in the extreme and potentially very dangerous. I dont like the idea of some half-sozzled lame-brain coming back from sampling the free alcohol during a break and making important decisions about my future...thats another thing..is it responsible and appropriate to be suppyling these people with alcohol at their workplace?..Im quite confident that would be in breach of OH&S regulations in any industry or jobsite in the land...once again we have these " public servants" thumbing their noses at the rest of Australia and treating us with contempt.

PS...Alexander Downer drunkenly writing our foreign policy is something I dont care to think about...in fact...Alexander Downer soberly writing our foreign policy is something I dont care to think about either.

Answer:
bloke I knew in Canberra used to empty the sharps containers in public toilets. He reckoned the most used syringes collected every week at any place in the ACT was inside Parliament House. That might give away a clue.

I think random drug and alcohol tests for Pollies is a great idea.
