Question:
Can anyone direct me to a NET resource where I would be able
to obtain at least three briefs on recent cases involving drug
testing in the workplace?
I don't have a Lexis or Westlaw account and am in need of this
information within the next two days for a college paper.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer:
Another place to look for briefs on workplace drug testing is at a good
law library (if your college/university has one). If you can identify
Supreme Court cases you are interested in (I don't have the names on the
tip of my tongue), a good law library should have the Supreme Court briefs
on microfiche, sorted by case number. There will be several briefs,
including a "cert petition" (petition for a writ of certiorari), an "opp
cert" (opposition to the cert petition), a brief on the merits for the
petitioner, a response brief by the respondent, and a reply brief by the
petitioner. You will probably want to get briefs on more than one case,
because those will tread the same ground a few times
