what others have experienced in the way of side effects short and long term. ?

Question:
I'm new to usegroups and would appreciate any help I may get in using one.

I'm wondering about the long term side effects and addiction to marijuana.I wonder what others have experienced in the way of side effects short and long term. I also want to get an idea of when a person smokes too much.

Any personal responces or links will be appreciated!

Answer:
Well, long term side effects could include lung problems (accociated with regular smoke intake, not necessarily MJ in particular). This could range from decreased lung capacity to chronic bronchitis...

As far as addiction, I find Marijuana to not be nearly as addictive as cigarettes or alcohol. There is no physical addiction associated with it, but you could develop a psychological addiction if you use it as an escape from lifes problems.

I think a person smokes too much when either

1) It becomes the only way for you to have fun 2) You need it just to relax 3) You are spending enough money on it to go into debt or fall way behind on bills

My personal experience with it is favorable. I smoke cigarettes and weed, but I haven't had a cold or any sickness in years. So at least I know that it is POSSIBLE to have no side effects.

Personally, I can put the bong down any time too. Sometimes when I drink, I say to myself "I'm not buzzed enough" and keep going. With weed, I'm usually content and I don't have a predetermined "high" to achive everytime I smoke. With cigarettes, I get nervous and feel weird if I go a day or two without a smoke. I've gone weeks without smoking pot and felt no side effects.

Of course results will vary, there is a way to use drugs responsibly and part of that is evaluating your level of addiction (if any) on a semi-regular basis. If you find that you can't stop smoking weed, or it becomes a health issue (ie you cough a lot, lose your breath, get colds all the time) then you have to be able to stop for awhile (or use less)...
