What are you required (by law) to tell a prospective employer?

Question:
What does someone who is ADD and is taking Adderall do when job hunting. My concern has to do with applicant/employee drug testing. Certainly the amphetamine in Adderall will show up on any drug test. Yet this medication, while controlled, is being prescribed by a physician.

1) What are you required (by law) to tell a prospective employer? 2) What should you tell a prospective employer about what medication you take and why? When in the interviewing process do you discuss this. Or is it none of their business. I'd prefer to avoid the topic altogether. 3) If it is none of their business, how can you reconcile this with positive drug test results?

Answer:
I waited 24 hours after taking my last 5mg dose of Adderall and there wasn't even a blip on my drug test. If you know you're going to get an offer, it's best not to take your meds the day you're going in to accept it; usually you have something like 48 hours to take the test.
