my friend asked me if pilots had to take drug tests..i said that i
don't believe the faa requires drug testing for the medicals
but the airline might require it......he can't believe that pilots
aren't tested and now i can't find anything to back up
my information...
does the faa require testing for any medicals?
do the airlines test??
Answer:
Pre-employment and random drug testing are required for all pilots and
mechanics working for FAR Part 135 and Part 121 operators. A few
years ago, they did require that you be tested during the month that
your medical was due. However, this was not part of the exam for your
medical, as it is administered as part of the operators drug testing
program.
