Question:
I'm a full blown hydrocodone addict. I take about 80-90mg of the stuff
a day, and I basically feel like I cant stop (and dont want to stop).
It dulls my pain, is better than any antidepressant, and motivates me
to work hard and provide for my family. Why cant doctors see that? My
question is, I need to know from you all who have gone to methadone
clinics or to your doctor to get it, would I be considered at one of
these places or would they "laugh" at me and say its not a "hard"
enough drug that im addicted to? I would much rather be spending my
money on a drug that takes care of all the feelings and needs hydro
does, lasts a whole day, and stops me from popping pills like a fiend
Answer:
Sorry you're addicted. I've only tried them a few times (hydrocodone
was fun when I took 7-8 tablets), but everyone says they are
INCREDIBLY addictive and I believe it. Doctors are not going to
prescribe you painkillers just because you're addicted and they make
you feel good. Almost every legit doctor is extremely careful when
prescribing opiates, they can get into serious trouble otherwise.
I think you should look into methadone treatment as a possibility,
although it is commonly used for heroin addiction. But it seems
you are not looking to get off opiates, simply for a substitute to
feed your cravings. I've tried just about every drug imaginable,
but have always shied away from opiates and for good reason. It
seems just about everyone who does them gets hooked and they wind
up destroying their lives. Just look at Elvis, he never touched
heroin but popped 100 painkillers a day until they killed him. And
Rush Limbaugh got hooked and is now forced into rehab due to the
publicity. But I thought methadone was an IV drug, it seems that
it wouldn't be such a good idea to trade in your pill addiction
for a needle addiction.
