Anybody else plagued by this as much as I?

Question:
I have been through a year of counseling for sex addiction and found that the two counselors I was with and the group I participated with that Internet porn was NOT really that common of a sex addiction. For others it was massage parlors, phone sex, voyuerism, movies, etc. Mine is purely visual media porn...Interenet porn at the top of the list and is it ever a big time killer...every bit as bad as any of the above mentioned, if not worse!

Anybody else plagued by this as much as I? I've slipped and am trying to get back with it. Would appreciate any comments or support.

Answer:
First, if this is OK to ask, what was the age groups of those in counseling. The reason I ask is that older people, tend not to embrace new technology. I myself am 26 and I find that with my group, it is the Internet that is the greatest source of pornography.

I know the two benefits of use the Internet, cheap and secret. I mean you can order videos and other materials and the only person who knows what is in the box is the sender, since most of the material is sent in a plain box. I am sure the carriers could guess, but that is all. As far as cheap, all you have to pay for is access. There are numerous sites that post passwords and backdoors that make it more easy. Then there is the Usernet.

So I guess the first thing is to see the sample. I know some of my friends, who are into sexual addiction (they may not think so, but I do) use the Internet and movies. One even uses sex toys. I think the most disturbing fact with this friend is that his wife is fine with it. I know if I was married

I would never hurt my wife with this addiction. I can say this since I tend to put people before me. That is how would this action effect my relationship with the other person.

I guess another point of view on your comment is that it depends on how the person was introduced to their sexual addiction. I think this is the most relevant means.

I concur with you that it was (is?) Internet porn that is my greatest crux. As mentioned, I would mainly use password sites and the Usernet. I would spend hours downloading the images to quench my cravings. It was the most lowest point of my life. I am not sure what was the metamorphous was, but I am happy now. I have deleted out the files and links. This was the hardest. I guess because of all the work that I put into compiling my collection.

I am always here for you and everyone else on this list. I hope one day that all of those with this addiction will stand up and destroy the evil empire that is the pornography industry!
