Question:
am looking for help-
I have sever/chronic pain, lower & mid back. I have been through all the
steps. Doctors, specialists, MRI, etc.
Nobody wants to treat chronic pain !! I have several issues with my back.
Bulging Discs, fracture and terrible bone spurs.
After several opinions (all different) no one really wants to operate. I am
too young,(they say), each problem is not sever enough etc.
I am 39 yrs. old and I travel for a living. My pain is REAL, the issues are
REAL.
I do not drink or party, but I do need a source for pain meds to be taken in
moderation.
I am sick and tired of sitting in Doctors' lobby area and being treated like
an addict.
Can anyone please help ? Suggestions, recommendations ?

Have you tried contacting a clinic that specifically deals with spine
patients? I'm not talking about a pack of doctors who have some spine
surgeons, but a multidisciplinary clinic like the University of Iowa
Hospitals and Clinics Spine Center. I went to them with a problem that all
the doctors had punted on and went through their two week chronic back pain
rehab program and had remarkable success. UIHC was my last hope and it
panned out.
I'm not a big fan of narcotics since I just went through Mayo's Pain Rehab
program [for a problem not associated with my back] and met a lot of folks
whose doctors gave them narcotics and got them addicted to them without much
benefit. [Which is not to say that they don't have a role in pain
management, but they have risks that some people seem to ignore or downplay]
